Teeth

Has anyone dealt with teeth this bad? The black is literally sitting on the gum line, there are no teeth left. The bottom has walls of teeth but no insides left. Some of them look like they have been filled with bright white gum. I don't even know where to start. I hate teeth, like HATE teeth, so I'm a tad overwhelmed by the thought of this mouth. If we pull whatever these are... stubs of teeth, she will literally have 4 teeth in her mouth. I don't think that will work for speaking. Please let me know if you have dealt with this...

Poor sweet girl! I guess her teeth must hurt her :-(

I haven't got any better advice than to consult a good dentist. However, unless the white fillings are soft, they might actually be real, OK, fillings. I too have fillings that look like that, bright white and matte, and mine are said to be better than the shiny plastic ones. Hopefully hers are too!

Not quite that bad, but pretty bad. I suggest a pediatric dentist who has access to full anesthesia (cost a ton but all 4 sides got done at once, including 2 root canals & caps on permanent teeth on a 6 yo). Most of the work was covered by our dental plan, but used all benefits for the whole year! Anesthesia was all us, payment-wise, but worth every penny and she wasn't traumatized by the whole thing. Slept most of the day drugged up and next day was pretty much fine. Ours cleaned & filled everything that was salvageable & I was so upset that 2 were permanently ruined. She will need new caps as she grows, plus the plan is to break her jaw when braces are needed. So, yeah, the mouth we brought home was pretty bad! Our other daughter, when asked if they had toothbrushes at grupa said, "Yes, but they didn't know how to use them!" That was her way of telling us the brushes were there but never used...Arggh!

Are these baby teeth? My kids, home at 6 and 7 1/2, both had horrible teeth. $8000 and 11 yrs later they both have quite good adult teeth. Find a good pediatric dentist and they can take care if a lot in a few visits. Will probably have a mouth full of silver for a while but very worth the loan I took out.

Congratulations on your newest additions. I can imagine the fun you're all having. The girls are beautiful (all of them). My suggestion for the teeth is like everyone else's so far - find a really good pediatric dentist who works in a surgery with an anesthesiologist. That way you can treat all areas at the same time. I did that with one of my little guys when he was five and there is no trauma, no memory, nothing really, just a mouth with no more pain. Anyway, I hope everything is going well in your transition. I'm looking forward to reading new posts. How is Ali's swimming going? Take care, Sarah
